Decision No. 1325 / QD-TTg on the Project for the development of the salt industry for the period 2021 – 2030 was issued on August 31, 2020.

The overall goal is to improve productivity, quality and diversify the ranges of salt products towards efficient and sustainable development, making the most of each locality’s advantages. The Government strives to satisfy both the domestic and foreign salt demands. At the same time, this would also create more employment, raise incomes and stabilize the lives of salt farmers.

The goal towards 2025
The total salt production area is to be maintained at 14,500 ha which produces 1,500,000 tons / year
– Increase the production area of ​​crystalline salt on the canvas to 5,000 hectares whose output reaches 650,000 tons (43%) while the processed salt’s output reaches 500,000 tons
– Infrastructure renovation and upgrading: Apply science and technology in salt production and processing to increase productivity by at least 20%

The goal towards 2030:

– The total area of ​​salt is 14,244 ha which yields  2 million tons / year
– Attracts Investment in the development of industrial-scale salt production, forming key industrial-scale salt production areas in the southern central provinces

Missions:
– To invest in the development and application of science and technology to salt production and processing in order to raise the productivity, quality and diversify salt products;
– To encourage, restore and preserve the development of traditional salt-producing trade villages;
– To invest in industrial-scale salt production infrastructure to meet the needs of the high-grade chemical and refined salt industry in the provinces of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan.

Regarding Production of salt by craft technology:
– To build the value chain between enterprises, cooperatives and salt farmers
– To research and apply the technology of salt crystallization by greenhouse effect to reduce risks caused by climate change
– To study and build pilot models of salt production combined with tourism and relaxation in salt craft villages for salt promotion and consumption.
