Salt is a familiar and indispensable part of our daily life. Usually, we often call it under the same general name of salt, yet, in fact, salt has many different types and is distinguished based on its crystal structure. The most basic of which are refined salt, kosher salt and sea salt which will be futher clarified as follows:
Refined Salt (Table Salt)
Table salt is the most common salt with a cubic crystal texture and the smallest size of all salts. Therefore, under the naked eye, refined salt has comparatively smoother and more even particles. In addition, table salt is mined from underground salt mines, thus, usually does not clump.

Kosher Salt
Kosher salt is a less refined salt due to its large crystal structure, hollow pyramid shape, and generally larger salt flakes that do not hold together. Therefore, the shape is coarse, large and not as smooth as refined salt.
Sea Salt
Last but not least, sea salt is also considered one of the basic salt. It is produced directly from seawater and undergoes less processing stage which led to it usually has a rather messy crystal shape. On the other hand, the amount of minerals retained in sea salts is of the highest.
Seasalt is also divided into two types based on the size of salt crystals with different usage properties: small grain sea salt and large grain sea salt
