Current situation of salt production and processing:
Many reports have pointed out that salt production in Vietnam still has many shortcomings that need to be renewed in order to maximize the exploitation potential.
The traditional way of producing salt is to bring seawater into the field to crystallize the salt in the soil surface. This method does not require huge investments. However, the biggest limitation is that the product will contain some insoluble impurities, which are not qualified for enterprises to use and process into high quality refined salt. Therefore, although the production capacity is large, the selling price is relatively low which leads to many salt farmers no longer staying in their profession, the salt production area also decreases as a result.
Faced with this problem, The Salt Industry Development Project of the Government advised that in order to meet the demand for the chemical industry as well as raw materials for high-grade refined salt processing, the salt industry needs to have a deliberate and sustainable production strategy to contribute to meeting the demand for industrial salt.
Current situation of Agricultural products Processing
The production, processing and export of agricultural products faced many difficulties with unstable demands, deeply dropped prices, decreased consumption as a result of Covid-19 epidemic.
At the same time, product quality and brand value have not been well controlled, causing a negative influence on competitiveness in the international market.
Encountered new opportunities and challenges, the Government proposes to focus on promoting the advantages of each locality, applying modern and advanced production technologies to restructure agriculture, and proactively respond to changes of market.
Proposals to improve yield and quality of Salt and Agricultural products
The restructuring is tightly associated with new investment and technological innovation to improve productivity, quality and efficiency. In order to increase production value, the State has adopted policies to encourage the development of large-scale production enterprises, applying modern technology in the efforts to diversify the processing of post-harvest products.
The government also supports organizations to develop, invest and upgrade the system of storage and preservation, to ensure the reserve of salt and agricultural products for production and business. On the other hand, businesses are also financially supported in investments for processing equipment and product quality analysis system
